Good Riddance - Gracie Abrams

first of all - aaron dessner does it yet again. i need all of my pop girlies to work with him (looking at you Lorde!). i first listened to this album drunk and absolutely fell in love with it. gracie's songwriting is honest and introspective. she doesn't blame anyone else - instead, she takes full responsibility for her "strange addiction" of lying, for things not falling into place, for being the ghost that haunts her past lover's house.

after a sober listening, i still give this album a solid 8/10. her quivering voice becomes the focal point about halfway through, but it's one of those things that you can convince yourself to look past. just embrace your inner sad girl and accept it.

Friends That Break Your Heart - James Blake

this album is 43 minutes and 48 seconds of greatness. it takes you through a friendship breakup, which you don't hear about too often in songs. but i'd say losing a friend can be just as painful as losing a lover, and this album gives the situation justice.

my personal favorite song is Lost Angel Nights - a look into having to move on when a friendship just isn't giving you what you need. "the world doesn't wait" and time continues to trek along - losing a few pals along the way is heartbreaking but necessary.
